Aardvark Concrete – the North West’s leading building supply company – is gearing up for an ambitious expansion drive after capturing a senior sales executive from global industry specialist, Cemex. Darren Marchment, 37, has joined Aardvark to help grow its four specialist divisions: concrete supply, aggregate distribution, material pumping and the newly launched Bay-Lynx MultiCat Spreader sales arm.

More homeowners are smartening up their driveways than ever before, in a bid to beat impending planning legislation due out later this year. The number of householders opting to re-do their driveway has increased significantly in the last three months following the launch of the government’s Water Strategy 2008. Aardvark Concrete – the Stockport-based concrete supply specialist – said business at its new household division Aardvark Driveways had surged since the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) set out new rules in February.

Aardvark Concrete has solidified its position as one of the UK’s leading building suppliers by clinching the sole distribution rights for specialist material placing vehicle, the Bay-Lynx MultiCat Spreader. The Stockport-based company – which to date has specialised predominantly in volumetric concrete supply – will become the only company in the country to sell the vehicle to UK and Republic of Ireland-based customers. Aardvark intends to extend distribution to mainland Europe in early 2010.
