As electricity is looking set to become the clean energy source of the future with lower carbon emissions during production, renewable energy added to the grid and no emissions at the point of use, Advance Appliances is seizing the opportunity to launch its new eGlow electric central heating boiler. This fully modulating appliance is 99% efficient because all the power it generates is turned into useful heat.

A choice of three output models, 6, 9 and 12kW, can provide residential space heating for all types of apartments and any form of sheltered housing as well as modern well insulated three bedroom homes and even smaller commercial premises in off-gas areas. All eGlow models are of the same compact size, with a contemporary design casing that will compliment any decor. They are controlled externally via a programmer and room thermostat arrangement of choice (not supplied) with voltage free switching, enabled by a connector in the boiler casing.

As they produce no NOx and no noise, operate on single phase domestic electricity supplies with no fluing required, Advance eGlow boilers can be located anywhere in the property. They are easy to fit having just two electric connections and two pipes to plumb for connection to either existing standard central heating radiator circuits with an 80°C flow or underfloor circuits with a 60°C flow.

A feature of the eGlow is the built-in pump, which has an over-run facility and an automatic by-pass is also fitted, making installation very straightforward. It can be installed in open vented mode or as a sealed system boiler for which a kit is available with an 8 litre expansion vessel that can be sited anywhere in the circuit for maximum installer flexibility.

Another major benefit is that no regular maintenance is required as with gas boilers, which is an annual obligation of landlords in rented accommodation. This means the electric boiler is a commercially expedient option for both private and housing association/local authority landlords. Stainless steel heat exchangers, sequential modulation and ‘soft switch’ start up facilities of the eGlow enhance the operating life and the latter reduces the loading on domestic electricity.

Safety features incorporated include a flow switch which prevents the boiler running in dry conditions and there are two levels of overheat protection while a single LED highlights running and fault modes.
