Stand: K132- It’s time to think differently about kitchen design, as new German brand, BORA, celebrates the UK launch of its worktop extractor and hob system at 100% Design this September. BORA will be working with Neil Lerner kitchens to present the new system, which won the Red Dot Design Award 2012. The BORA extractor sits in the worktop between modular hobs and draws vapour downwards instead of from above. The result is that cooking odour, grease and steam are removed exactly where they arise – from the cook top.

The BORA principle

The BORA extractor does not work with the volume of the air (m3/h), but rather with the speed of the air. Air rises at a rate of 1metre per second – BORA draws vapour downwards at around 4metres per second. This creates a cross flow greater than the speed the air rises.

BORA has two systems for domestic kitchens, Professional and BORA Classic, which won the Red Dot Design Award this year.

BORA Professional

The Professional range is operated by solid stainless steel front control knobs, giving a level of functionality only found in professional kitchens. The extractor is opened by a rotating mechanism that disassembles into three pieces for easy cleaning and has multiple options for ducting.

BORA Classic

The Classic range is touch controlled, with two removable cover pieces. The two ranges have differences in ducting and choice of domino hobs that can be installed built-in or flush fitted. This includes two-zone and zoneless induction hobs, gas and ceramic hobs and teppanyaki plate.

Design Inspiration

Architects, interior designers and kitchen specialists visiting 100% Design can find fresh inspiration from the streamlined worktop design as it beats the limitations cooker hoods can represent.

Space is left above for further design elements, and the drawers beneath are not lost by the installation. The eye line is not interrupted and the 54dB noise level means the system is perfect for open-planned living. BORA offers the additional economical advantage that it does not need to move large volumes of air.

Join BORA and see for yourself just how effective the BORA system is - cooking demonstrations by the BORA chef will take place on stand K132 at 100% Design.
